We are looking for an experienced Sustainability professional(s) to join our SHEQ Advisory team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team when Sustainability is at the forefront of client’s strategies.
We will consider candidates to be based from either London / UK Regional Hub (Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, Glasgow, Edinburgh
The Sustainability Consultant will be responsible for scoping, developing & delivering of Sustainability solutions to meet existing and future clients’ business needs within the Infrastructure, Real Estate and Natural Resources sectors, whilst providing Sustainability support for the development of internal strategies and processes.
Responsibilities will include
Advising clients on the development and delivery of Sustainability strategies throughout the lifecycle of projects and programmes
Support clients in reducing environmental risk and identify sustainability opportunities in projects/programmes and operations
Embed Sustainability into Turner & Townsend’s processes and procedures for the delivery of projects and programmes
Supporting Turner & Townsend’s Corporate Responsibility strategy in alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goals
Carry out gap analysis reviews/audits for environment and sustainability, including environmental management systems
Carry out Audits as identified and provide written reports on the findings
Engage with internal stakeholders, including Key Account Managers and sector leads to identify opportunities to develop Sustainability services across our client base
Network & coach/mentor as appropriate to develop technical skillset
Ensure commercial activities, forecasting, budgeting and invoicing are performed in line with business requirements
Work with bid teams to write technical solutions to meet client requirements
Qualifications and Experience
Degree qualified in a relevant subject
Chartered member of an appropriate professional institution, e.g. IEMA / Chartered Environmentalist
Have experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams and matrix management organisations on major projects and programmes
Experience of Real Estate and Infrastructure sectors (e.g. transport, utilities, defence, energy, civils) would be advantageous
Good knowledge of environmental legislation and sustainability issues, including but not limited to energy/carbon, water, waste, materials, biodiversity and socio-economic aspects
A good understanding of environmental assessment methods such as LEED, BREEAM, WELL Buiding Standard, and CEEQUAL
Ability to communicate with clients and other key stakeholders on global, national and regional issues, including Climate and Biodiversity Emergency and Net Zero Emissions
Able to build strong, professional client relationships and proactively identifies and resolves client’s issues
Experience of developing and reviewing environmental managemental management systems in line with ISO14001:2015
Experience of providing environmental and sustainability assurance throughout the lifecycle of major projects and programmes, including the construction phase
Confident leading alone and working as part of a team, with ability to flex according to the needs of the programme
Business development experience, in the context of identifying opportunities with existing as well as new clients
Attention to detail in service delivery, communications and ways of working with others
Excellent analytic and communication skills
