About the role

This permanent full-time position is responsible for leading the day to day operations of a team of Development Support Officers and the administrative management of the Development & Traffic Services Unit.

On a daily basis you will lead and manage staff in a manner that brings Council’s vision, purpose and values alive and ensure that a quality service is delivered by the team.

Commitment to excellence in customer service as demonstrated by an ability to assess, manage and meet internal and external customer needs and expectations.

Implement Council resolutions relevant to the Development & Traffic Services Unit.

Ensure adherence to the corporate standards relating to behaviours and professional standards, as well as correspondence, customer response and customer request management.

Ensure that Council’s corporate strategies are delivered at the customer interface.

Ensure that the delivery of service complies with appropriate regulations.

Manage the Development Support team and report on performance of the services provided by the team.

Conduct audits of tasks within Pathways & Trim to ensure processes and procedures are adhered to.

Provide training to the Development & Traffic Services Unit in business systems and processes.

Ensure to take reasonable care of the health and safety of yourself, staff, visitors, contractors and volunteers whilst at work, and cooperate with PCC to comply with WH&S legislative obligations.

Ensure EEO, the principles for a culturally diverse society, and Council policies are complied with at all times.

Contribute to improved customer service and organisational effectiveness by proactively contributing to continuous improvement, team culture and commitment to team objectives.

Be a proactive member of the management team of the Development and Traffic Services Unit contributing to continuous improvement, team culture and commitment to team objectives.

About the person

The successful candidate should hold relevant tertiary Qualifications in Business Administration, Frontline Management, Project Management and/or have previous experience in a similar role and be able to demonstrate:

Extensive relevant experience in Local Government/Administration or similar.

Experience in the management of small teams.

Experience in managing the needs of multiple stakeholders.

High level communication, negotiation, advocacy and people management skills.
