The role of the technical architect is to perform at the highest level within their technical discipline and to become a trusted service partner to the eir Business largest & most important customers.

The Technical Architect will, as part of the continuous service improvement process, also feed into the innovative design of new and existing solution and improve the quality of design and implementation processes. Technical Architects are in charge of effectively designing and reviewing in-life or new network requirements and capabilities for their assigned customers. They are responsible for validating high-level design plans for optimal network implementation. Technical architects must be organised individuals that pay strong attention to detail to prevent network issues and incompatibility.

Additionally, Technical Architects verify network integrity by coordinating the installation and proper maintenance of hardware and software tools. They provide expert technical support and guidance for complex UC, Datacentre, Enterprise Networks and Security problems. A key function of the role is to manage customer expectations by defining strict standards and ensuring these are followed as well as implementing new technologies and monitoring performance based on specified requirements. Technical Architects also determine the optimium architecture required to meet the customers network requirements.

Participate and input to the Architect Forum defining the standards and best practise guidelines for how eir Business design, build, deploy and operate Enterprise Networks The technical architect is responsible for determining the root cause of problems resulting from incidents and events and for establishing and managing remediation plans offering innovative solutions to complex issues and problems Employ a consultative approach with strategic thinking, innovative problem solving, and outstanding leadership. Take full responsibility for providing technical clarity and earning customer trust from a technical standpoint, customer trust will be especially gained during major incidents. As an expert in their field promote these specific area of expertise within the industry and position eir Business as a leader in the marketplace Articulate complex technologies in terms of business capability and possess excellent technical writing skills. Input to proposals eg service improvement proposals where specific technical authority is required.

Input to the creation of detailed change plans, test strategies & risk analysis. Deliver specialist professional and technical advice to the wider function and business such as Sales, Pre-sales, Service, Product Management and other areas as necessary Deliver presentations on technology Proof of Concepts and seminars for technological advancement, impart knowledge promptly. Contribute toward collaborative mechanisms for communication amongst peers and engineering disciplines throughout the wider eir group. Coach and mentor Managed Service Centre team and assume responsibility for lead engineer role on specific technological areas.

Participate in an on call’ where required at an expert level (L3). Build relationships and processes with our suppliers and partners eg Cisco & Fortinet. Demonstrate a drive to maintaining and extending their professional certifications and accreditations and will typically seek to acquire more than one expert level certification and contribute to overall company technical accrediations Critical Knowledge, Skills and Experience Min 10yrs experience with Cisco Expert level certifications or equivalent eg CCIE, CCDA etc. Multiple qualifications a distinct advantage.

Industry Background in Telco, ICT and Consulting In-depth knowledge and understanding of the working and operation of MBGP, MPLS VPNs, L3 VPN’s, VPLS, L2 tunnels over MPLS, Traffic Engineering, QOS and Inter AS VPN’s. Verbal & Written skill and ability articulate complex technical ideas to technical and non technical audiences Enterprise Architecture qualifications such as TOGAF or equivelant of benefit. Strong Unix/Linux skills and the ability to script in Python, Perl, Shell, C or C++ is desirable If you match these requirements. Please apply as usual.
