About the Role
Here at Babcock International we’re looking for a Utilities & Plant Maintenance Manager to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We’re a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.
The Non-Nuclear Facility Maintenance Department’s role is to carry out maintenance, utility delivery and strategic upgrades across the entire Non-Nuclear Devonport Royal Dockyard Estate assets in order to support the wider business. It is governed by the MSDF contract between the MoD and Babcock. As the Utilities & Plant Maintenance Manager you will be responsible for managing the Mechanical department, which has a team of circa. 50 employees and a budget of around £4.5M.
Using your substantial experience gained in a similar role, your key managerial responsibilities will include:
The provision and maintenance of Utilities and Plant within.
Air and Water Process
Heating and Ventilation Process
Non-Nuclear Crane and OHT maintenance
The group’s nuclear maintenance, as appropriate to area of responsibility.
To support the Estates Programme Manager as required
What do I need to do the role?
The Utilities & Plant Maintenance Manager will have significant relevant experience of maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment, and utility delivery and control. They should also hold a Degree/HND in a relevant engineering discipline (an ONC with extensive experience may also be considered).
What else do I need to know?
The successful candidate will hold, or be eligible to acquire, Security Clearance at the appropriate level for this post.
